Love living local

Parks

Over 14 hectares of land across the overall development has been set aside as public and open space and our community already enjoys the use of Davies Park. The exquisite views to the Kaimai Range and the thoughtful development that incorporates 100-year-old London Plane trees, are just two aspects that provides Davies Park with a unique connection to nature. If you want space to kick a ball, walk the dog, teach the kids to ride, or just read a book under the trees while admiring the view, then living at Lockerbie will provide all that you need.

Lockerbie Junction

It is rare for a small-town subdivision to boast a neighbourhood centre and Lockerbie Estate has the luxury of enough scale to make the vision happen. Lockerbie Junction will bring a much-needed new medical hub to Morrinsville that will include a doctors, and pharmacy. A local superette and hair & beauty salon will provide further amenity. Resource consent has issued, and we are aiming to break ground in early 2025.

Oak Eatery

Join us for breakfast, brunch or lunch at Oak Eatery, now open and conveniently located in the heart of Lockerbie Estate right next to our playground. Open daily, Oak Eatery serves delicious meals, cabinet food and coffee so good you’ll travel across town for it.

Destination Playground

We believe that playgrounds are for kids to burn off energy, to learn about taking risks, exploration, co-ordination and building strength. They also form an important part of building a community and fostering friendships. Significant care and community feedback has been undertaken to create a neighbourhood playground that we are all proud of. The playground provides a safe and beautiful environment where kids can play while Mum and Dad sit and share a coffee.

Childcare

At Lockerbie we are aiming to create a community where families can flourish. In a modern working world, parents need to know that their children have the option of first-class care and education. Our approach to early childhood education focusses on the holistic well-being of the child and the convenience and access for the parents. Our childcare centre is set in prime position within the development, with easy pick up, drop off, access and parking. The centre is set amongst the 100-year-old trees, and emphasises a connection to nature and the outside. We believe that children playing freely in the magical environments all around us provide the optimal conditions for healthy brain development.

Schools

Access to schools, childcare and space to play has been prioritised in planning to ensure convenience and comfort for all ages. Access to David Street Primary School is from within Lockerbie Estate and Morrinsville Intermediate School and Morrinsville High School are a few minutes’ walk away. Bus access to schools in Hamilton is also available.

Scenic Views

Lockerbie Estate sits on an elevated position on the north edge of Morrinsville and has the benefit of a 360-degree outlook to some of the Waikato’s most beautiful scenery. Morrinsville sits within a caldera surrounded by mountain ranges on three sides. To the east sits the magnificent panorama of the Kaimai Range featuring the iconic peak of Mount Te Aroha. To the north, is the sunny expanse of the Hapuakohe Range. To the south is the Pakaro Range as well as the peaks of Mount Misery, Maungatapu, Maungakawa and Te Tapui.

Ecology

Lockerbie Estate works hard to protect and improve the existing natural habitats. The main ecological features of the estate include:

Preservation of an avenue of 100-year-old London Plane and English Oak trees that form the basis for Davies Park.

The creation of a large wetland system to encourage plant and bird life.

Development and enhancement of the existing stream network through the development that will be protected with the planting of indigenous species.

‘Greening’ of streetscapes through extensive roadside trees and design guidelines that require specific front yard planting.

Morrinsville Golf Course

On the eastern edge of the development, just 500 metres away, is Morrinsville Golf Course. The 18-hole course was established over a century ago and has a bit of everything, both on the course and in its environment, all the while enjoying the rural air and stunning river and mountain views.
